Newmills is a small but busy village just outside Dungannon. The centre of the village is marked by the cenotaph, erected in memory of those who lost their lives in the 1st and 2nd World Wars. The village pub is named the VC Inn after local war hero Robert Morrow, who earned the Victoria Cross for his acts of bravery near Messines on 12 April, 1915, after he rescued several men when he himself was under fire from the enemy.
Another historical feature of which Newmills can boast is the Aqueduct over the River Torrent. Architect Dariso de Arcort (Ducart) had planned the structure and the aqueduct was finished to impress and encourage potential investors.
